On March 19, 2014, the North-West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC). Subsequently, on June 9, 2014, NWPGCL formalized a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with CMC at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, China. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China. This agreement aimed to facilitate the implementation of the Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant Project by establishing a Joint Venture Company (JVC). Following this, Bangladesh-China Power Company Ltd. (BCPCL) was established on October 1, 2014.
